Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and the operator of FIFE: A Vegan Lifestyle ("FIFE", "the App", "we", "us", "our").
Contact email: hello@fife.earth
Operator: FIFE: A Vegan Lifestyle (legal entity details available on request via the email above).
Address for legal notices: available on request via the email above.
By creating an account or using the App you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms apply from the moment you create an account or first use the App. You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use FIFE. By using the App you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms.
2. Eligibility
- FIFE is intended for users aged 16 and over. By using the App you confirm that you are at least 16 years old.
- If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete that account and its associated data.
- The App is offered for personal, non-commercial use. Commercial use (e.g. running a paid service using FIFE's content or features) requires our prior written permission.
3. Your account
- You must register with a valid email address that you control and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for everything that happens through your account.
- Please provide accurate information when signing up and keep it up to date.
- One account per person; do not share your account or transfer it to anyone else.
- Tell us promptly at hello@fife.earth if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in-app (Profile → Delete my account) or by emailing hello@fife.earth from the address on your account. Deletion removes your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy; billing is managed separately through your app store (see Section 4).
4. Subscriptions and billing (Creator plan)
FIFE is free to use with daily limits — the free tier includes 10 UCHE AI chats per day. A paid Creator membership unlocks unlimited UCHE chats and the ability to publish recipes to the Library.
- Prices: £4.99 per month or £49.99 per year (or the local price shown in the App Store at the time of purchase).
- Founding members: founding members keep their launch pricing for 5 years from their original purchase date.
- Billing: All purchases are processed by Apple as in-app purchases, with subscription status managed via RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple account will be charged the then-current price for the next period.
- Cancelling: You can cancel at any time in your App Store settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you keep Creator access until then. Deleting the app or your FIFE account does not cancel your App Store subscription; please cancel in the App Store first.
- Refunds: Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's own refund policy. To request a refund, contact Apple Support directly; we cannot process App Store payments ourselves.
- Price changes: If we change subscription prices, Apple will give you advance notice as required by its policies, and the new price will apply from your next renewal. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before the renewal date.
- Free trials: If we offer a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends, per the App Store's rules.
5. Creator content rules
Creators may publish their own recipes to the Library, and all members may post to the community Feed. The same ownership and licensing rules apply to both.
- Vegan only: Recipes published to the Library must be fully vegan — no meat, fish, dairy, eggs, honey, or other animal-derived ingredients. Recipes that do not meet this standard may be removed.
- You own your content: You retain all rights you hold in the recipes, photos, and posts you create. Publishing them on FIFE does not transfer ownership to us.
- Licence you grant us: By publishing content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and adapt your content (e.g. resizing images, formatting recipes) for the purpose of operating, promoting and improving the App. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content has been reshared by others in ways we cannot retract, or where we must retain copies for legal reasons.
- Your warranties: By publishing content you confirm that: (a) you own it or have the right to publish it; (b) it does not infringe anyone else's copyright, trade mark, or other rights (this includes copying recipes from books or websites); and (c) it complies with these Terms.
- No infringement: If you believe content on FIFE infringes your rights, email hello@fife.earth with details and we will investigate and remove infringing material where appropriate.
- We may remove any content that breaks these rules, without notice where necessary.
6. Community rules (Feed)
The Feed is a kind, welcoming space. To keep it that way:
- Do not present non-vegan food as vegan. Posts of non-vegan food will be removed.
- No hate speech, harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind.
- No spam, advertising, or self-promotion outside appropriate contexts.
- No nudity, sexual content, graphic violence, or illegal content.
- Do not post other people's personal information, or content you have no right to share.
- Moderation: Every post is moderated. We reserve the right to remove any post, and to restrict or suspend accounts that repeatedly break these rules, at our reasonable discretion.
- Reporting: If you see something that breaks these rules, report it in-app or email hello@fife.earth. We review reports promptly.
7. UCHE AI assistant — important disclaimer
- Informational only: UCHE's responses are general culinary information and ideas. They are not medical, dietary, or nutritional advice, and are not a substitute for advice from a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified professional.
- AI can be wrong: AI-generated content may contain errors, outdated information, or implausible suggestions (including about ingredients, quantities, cooking times, temperatures, or nutrition). Always use your own judgement before cooking or eating anything UCHE suggests.
- Allergies and intolerances are your responsibility: UCHE cannot reliably identify every allergen, cross-contamination risk, or hidden ingredient. If you have any food allergy, intolerance, or medical condition, verify ingredients yourself and consult a qualified professional. Do not rely on UCHE to keep you safe.
- We do not guarantee that UCHE's output is accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose.
8. Discovery map and place data — disclaimer
The Discover feature shows vegan restaurants and organic stores using data from the Google Places API, supplemented by our own curation.
- Business information (opening hours, addresses, vegan status, photos) comes from Google and third-party sources. We do not control or verify it.
- Accuracy is not guaranteed: places may have closed, moved, changed their menu, or no longer offer vegan options. Please check with the venue before travelling or ordering.
- A listing on the map is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for your experience at any venue.
- Google Places data is provided subject to Google's own terms and policies.
9. Intellectual property
- The FIFE name, logo, app design, code, curated recipe library, and all content we create are owned by the operator of FIFE and protected by UK and international intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.
- We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose, for as long as you comply with these Terms.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the App, except where the law does not allow us to restrict this.
- Content you publish remains yours, as described in Section 5.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The App (including UCHE and the discovery map) is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We are not liable for: (a) indirect or consequential losses; (b) loss of profits, business, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings; (c) harm arising from AI-generated content, third-party place data, or content published by other users; (d) interruptions, errors, or unavailability of the App or of third-party services we rely on (Stores, Google, RevenueCat, Supabase, LLM providers).
- Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to the App in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of: (a) the amounts you paid us (via the Stores) for the App in that period, or (b) £100.
- If you are a consumer, this section applies only to the extent the law allows limitations between a trader and a consumer.
11. Termination
- You may stop using FIFE and delete your account at any time (remember to cancel any active subscription in the Store first).
- We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms — for example by infringing others' rights, abusing the community, or misusing the service. Where reasonable, we will warn you first.
- On termination: your right to use the App ends; your content and personal data are handled as described in our Privacy Policy; and any provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including Sections 5, 7, 9, 10 and 12) continue to apply.
12. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising from them or the App (including non-contractual disputes), are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and nothing in this section removes any mandatory consumer protections of your home jurisdiction.
13. Changes to these Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time — for example when we add features or the law changes.
- For material changes we will give you reasonable advance notice in-app (and by email if you opted in) before the changes take effect, and we will update the "Last updated" date above.
- If you continue to use the App after the effective date of a change, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the App and delete your account (cancelling any subscription first).
14. Contact
